Chinese New Year Celebrations
Reception children had a fantastic time celebrating Chinese New Year, discovering that it is the Year of the Snake! They enjoyed a delicious Chinese banquet, trying cooked noodles, spring rolls, and prawn crackers, whilst learning how to use chopsticks. For many, tasting lychees for the first time was a highlight—and in their words it was ‘yummy!’
The children got creative, making colourful Chinese lanterns and dragons. They also practiced Chinese writing and made red packets, each filled with a special treat. Through stories, the children found out about New Year traditions and even discovered their own zodiac signs—the Year of the Rat and Pig.
