Hurst switches to remote learning

Hurst College switched to remote learning this week, when most teachers worked from home broadcasting live lessons to pupils’ homes. In addition, there were a small number of teachers on site to cater for pupils whose parents are key workers.

A new way of learning was launched on Monday, which followed as close to the normal timetable as possible, and in the Senior School began with house meetings followed by assembly and congo (the singing of hymns) and with an assembly in the Prep School.

As the week has progressed, plenty of co-curricular activities were also introduced including a virtual choir rehearsal, CCF housekeeping activities, virtual dance classes and circuit training.

Today, the last day of term, began with a couple of lessons and was followed by itinerarium in the Senior School and an assembly in the Prep School. Senior School pupils finished the afternoon by watching the live streaming of the House Film competition before breaking for the Easter holidays.

The response from staff, pupils and parents has been excellent – demonstrating Hurst spirit at its very best. I am extremely proud and grateful to each and every member of the Hurst Community in these challenging times Tim Manly, Headmaster
