Egyptian day - Hurstpierpoint College

Egyptian day

Yesterday, Year 3 pupils enjoyed an Egyptian themed day, when they took part in a range of creative activities.

To start their day, they studied Egyptian pattern before creating their own tunics using fabric pens and pillowcases. After lunch, dressed in their tunics, the children tried their hand at other Egyptian projects. They made bright suncatchers of Egyptian scenes and carefully used hieroglyphs to create bookmarks on real papyrus paper. A favourite activity was decorating a sarcophagus to hold precious possessions – these were decorated with jewels and the level of care and detail was wonderful.

All in all, the day was a great way to consolidate their learning about mummification and Egyptian life 5,000 years ago Sarah Deelman, Year 3 Teacher
