Reception pupils had a fantastic time visiting Pizza Express as part of their topic on healthy eating, where they discovered how pizzas are made and explored different healthy toppings.
During their visit, the children had the exciting opportunity to roll their own dough, learning that it is made from just flour, water, and a secret ingredient. They carefully placed their dough in a pan, spread on delicious tomato sauce, and sprinkled cheese on top, ready for baking.
The young pizza makers were amazed to learn that the ovens at Pizza Express reach a scorching 360 degrees, meaning the pizzas cook in just one minute! They also discovered that chefs use a special tool called a paddle to safely remove the pizzas from the oven and to avoid burning themselves. The children thought the paddle looked just like a giant spade!
Best of all, each child got to make their own pizza and bring it back to school to enjoy for lunch.
