Sport

Hurst is well-known for its unconquerable spirit on the sports field.  With outstanding sporting facilities and coaching, the School offers a wide variety of sporting opportunities from team to adventure sports.

The School’s main sports are hockey, netball, rounders and tennis for girls whilst for boys they are rugby, hockey, cricket and athletics.  Many Sixth Formers represent the School in one sport or another and some also help to train pupils in younger teams; captains of senior teams also gain valuable experience helping with administration and planning.

Sixth Formers help with the selection and training of their teams for each term’s House matches, and also enjoy a wide range of other sporting activities; these include aerobics, badminton, climbing, fitness tuition, kayaking, polo, shooting and squash.

Every year, Hurst offers many sporting and educational trips, locally during term time and further afield during the holidays.  Sixth Form students have the opportunity to join adventure sports parties travelling to destinations within Europe and, for team sports players, to enjoy the exciting challenges of being part of a touring party to more distant destinations such as Australia and New Zealand, India or South Africa.
