Many choose to undertake the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Aware. Others join the School’s very popular Combined Cadet Force, one of the first to be formed in the United Kingdom, comprising both Army and RAF corps. Students considering a business career find the Young Enterprise scheme offers invaluable experience.
Hurst also recognises its duty to the wider community through strong Community Service and Conservation programmes. Each year, students choose two charities for which they raise funds. Recently, a group of students travelled to Kenya to build a much needed community resource for a village in the bush whilst another party undertook a biodiversity monitoring programme in the rainforests and on the coral reefs of Honduras.
