Averaged over the past three years, Hurst pupils achieved 73% A* - B grades.
Altogether twenty seven pupils gained 3As or better and A* grades made up 10% of results. In addition to A2 levels, many students completed additional AS levels and Level 3 Extended Projects.Seven of our Upper Sixth leavers secured their Oxbridge places and others confirmed their university places in London at Imperial College, the LSE and University College. Three students will be reading Medicine and one will start on a Veterinary Medicine course at the Royal Veterinary College this year. James Collins will study Earth Sciences at Exeter College, Oxford; Deanna Greenhalgh proceeds to Keble College, Oxford, to study Geography; Ellie Hargreaves will read Music at St Peter’s College, Oxford; Hector Manly has a place at Wadham College, Oxford, to read Physics; Harry Noad will read Philosophy and Theology at St Peter’s College, Oxford; Charlie Shotton starts at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, reading Politics, Psychology and Sociology and Joseph Webb will go to St Catherine’s College, Oxford to study Materials Science.

This year the percentage of A*-B % grades continued to improve and the Upper Sixth of 2011 did better than previous years in achieving an A*-C% of 89.9% with 45.5% of all results being at A* and A grade. Altogether twenty eight pupils gained 3As or better and eleven claimed at least 2 A*s. All of our Oxbridge students achieved the grades required to confirm their places: Matthew Austin will study Physics at Wadham College, Oxford, Alex Bergin proceeds to Wolfson College, Cambridge, to study Economics, Marcin Konowalczyk will read Chemistry at Somerville College, Oxford, Olliver Meredith has a place at Oriel College, Oxford, to read Engineering, Harriet Sykes will read Linguistics at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge and Michael Zhang will go to Lincoln College, Oxford to study Physics.
In addition to their A levels, twenty five students completed Level 3 Extended Projects with 60% of the grades being A*/A.

The Upper Sixth of 2010 passed a total of 374 A2 levels with 46.9% being at A* or A grade. When all the points were counted in from AS and A2 levels the average score per candidate was 352.
Altogether thirty seven pupils gained 3As or better and thirteen claimed at least 2 A*s. For the first time this year our students also received grades for their Level 3 Extended Projects. Twenty seven projects were completed and 40.7% of the grades were A*/A.
