Swimming training and access to the College’s 25m pool is available in all three terms, but the main competitive season takes place during the summer with the College competing against other public schools, both in Sussex and further afield. The College runs a co-ed squad of four teams: senior boys, senior girls, junior boys and junior girls.
The fixture list averages around 11 or 12 fixtures per age group, with the senior boys' and girls' teams also entering the prestigious Bath Cup (National relay competition for Independent Schools). Hurst's swimming squads share the College’s other sports teams’ spirit and determination and undertake a rigorous and exacting programme of training sessions in preparation for fixtures. One of the particular features of swimming at the College is the way in which the boys and girls support each other, both in training and on match days. Water polo is also part of the summer programme, with matches often at the end of each of our galas.
