Boys' Hockey is the major boys' sport in the Lent term. With a very strong tradition of Boys' Hockey and the boys playing against strong well-known hockey schools, the College runs 12 sides. 1st XI, 2nd XI, 3rd XI, U16A, U16B, U15A, U15B, U15C, U14A, U14B, U14C and U14D. These teams play regular Hockey from January through to the end of March. The College enters teams into the Sussex U18, U16 and U14 county competitions each year. Over the years our teams have had great success in winning titles.

The majority of the teams are coached by England Hockey qualified Coaches and the coaching is headed up by Chris Wilson, South African level 2 Coach and ex provincial player, along with Ian Pattison, English level 2 Coach and former England U21 player, and Greg Haines, New Zealand level 2 Coach. At the Junior Level of Boys' Hockey all teams have two coaches working with them during the week.
The College boasts a state of the art Astro turf which was laid in March 2001 as well as access to two local club Astro turfs. Hurst also has two grass pitches. We are also in the process of planning to build a second astro turf on the campus. Rob Smith our fitness instructor helps and oversees the boys in regards to fitness programmes and injury rehabilitation.
Hurst continues to produce a steady stream of Sussex County Hockey Players and most recenty also a junior international player

Hockey at Hurstpierpoint College is further enhanced by regular major Hockey tours. At some stage during their school career, players in every year-group will have the chance to be considered for a place on a major school tour.

Tours provide the opportunity for schools to forge links and as a consequence of our regular hockey tours abroad we have built up relationships with Pinelands High School in Cape Town, South Africa as well as Como High School in Perth, Australia.
