Confident Hurst girls reach semi-final of Sussex knock-out cup

Hurst girls playing an earlier round in the Sussex CupThe Hurst U19A drew Sussex Downs, Lewes as their opponents in the quarter final of the Sussex Knock Out Cup.

The girls travelled to the fixture in buoyant mood, well motivated for a win. The team made an impressive start, dominating the court and the Sussex Downs defence were plagued by very consistent shooting from both Chelsey Shackleton and Bethan Zeidler.

Hurst pulled away strongly in the second half with many turnovers made by Captain Lily Carpenter and Jordan Thornesten.

Going into the final quarter of the match, the girls knew they were in command and that gave them the confidence to continue playing with an impressive and calm confidence, despite two very nasty falls resulting in injuries to Christie Belgeonne and Ellen Franks.

This fantastic performance by the whole squad was rewarded by an emphatic win 44-17. As of writing, we are waiting to find out whom Hurst will face in the semi-final.
