Chevron House collected the Senior School “Top House” trophy after defeating a team from Red Cross House in the final by 440 points to 320.
The winning team comprised Alexander Norden (Remove), Kit Holliday (Lower Sixth), Tim Hülsmann-Diamond, (Lower Sixth) and Maxim Taite-Ellis (Remove).
The competition started at the beginning of term with all ten houses pitting their wits against each other to make the final showdown.
Last year’s winners, Red Cross, this year fronted by Benjy Mason (Upper Sixth), Harry Gilchrist (Upper Sixth) James Mitchell (Remove) and Alex Jamieson (Remove), were chasing Chevron from the beginning of the thirty minute match-up.
Both sides answered some testing questions ranging from naming the capital of Nepal to identifying which nursery rhyme animal was instructed to “fly away home”; both were answered correctly.
With five minutes to go the score read 400 to 200 in Chevron’s favour. The leaders resisted a final surge from their opponents by taking full advantage of their bonus questions as the timer counted down to zero.
Chevron House will now reign supreme until they return to defend their crown next year.
