The Annual Inter Preparatory Schools Athletics meeting is one of the high points of the Summer Sporting Season.
Outstanding young athletes from some twenty Prep Schools converged upon Hurst's 140 acre Country campus, each ready to compete against the best of their peers in the County.
Tracks and grounds were in excellent condition and bright sunlight alternated with light cloud. The addition of a cool, slightly blustery, breeze made conditions for competitive athletics almost perfect.
Hurst's Headmaster, Tim Manly, welcomed all the guests with the words "Good luck to all those taking part today; there will, I know, be some outstanding performances at this meeting but I trust that all competitors will remember that sport is as much about friendship and fellowship as it is about competition".
