Hurst at the Mid-Sussex Music Competition 2011

Hunter Cup winner - Midsussex Music 2011Our congratulations go to all those students who entered into the Mid Sussex Music Festival this year. It is, of course, as much about the taking part as it is the winning. Performing is a subjective art and, whatever  the adjudicator’s final decision, the benefits of taking part are numerous. Not only is it valuable to hear others perform, but the constructive feedback the musicians receive from their adjudicator is invaluable.

This year, Rory Green was one such Hurst student to take part. Not only did he enter two piano classes, but he also played in the cello and guitar classes. Head of Academic Music, Mr Jameson was fortunate enough to have been there for Rory's cello and guitar classes. He impressed his adjudicator, international cellist Mr Justin Person, so much with his musical guitar playing that Rory was asked to give a repeat performance straight away. Rory did well in all the classes he entered: winning classes 347 (solo guitar) and 321 (cello grades 7 – 8). He was later awarded the Hunter Cup.

Congratulations to all the other students who also took part, all of whom represented Hurst in such a positive light.
