Pupils from Prep School to Sixth Form contributed to a great evening's musical entertainment for what has now become a tradition at Hurst, the Michaelmas Rock Festival.
Music at Hurst has been resurgent for some considerable time now under the deft leadership of Neil Matthews and the confidence and obvious pleasure with which all our musicians perform makes them a joy to watch.
Many show an impressive mastery of their music and a professionalism in performance that belies their age. Many, too, exhibit great confidence and courage as they push their performance boundaries, prepared to experiment on stage in front of a live audience and, mostly, achieve their challenging goals with considerable panache.
This evening (Thursday 25th November 2010) under the leadership of Derek Austin - who
masterminds all things relating to electronic music at Hurst - was no exception. In front of an enthusiastic audience, youngsters from the Prep School and the Shell and Remove years of the Senior School played and sang superbly whilst their more senior colleagues from Fifth form to Upper Sixth

produced some stunning performances of classics ranging from Coldplay to Sinatra.
It was, all in all, an evening to remember.
