Accomplished, witty, stylish and very, very polished -

The 2010 Dance Showcase

Under Hurst's new Head of Dance, Nicola Dominy, the creativity and quality of dance at Hurst is now quite exceptional.

As a result, the 2010 Dance Showcase on 30th April impressed everyone privileged to receive a ticket.

As well as creating new work within the various extra-curricular dance clubs, students have collaborated with a number of guest teachers, including former ballerina with The Royal Ballet, Fiona Chadwick and professional street dancer, Reg. And Nicola Dominy's special contribution has been to inspire a special blend of contemporary dance to the programme.

Success breeds success and an appetite for dance, an enthusiasm to develop skills in choreography and an eagerness to participate in public performances performance are all increasingly evident throughout the College population.

So, this year's Showcase included more male dancers than ever before and presented work by the new Senior Prep School Dance Company, Bounce!, as well as the Junior Prep Ballet Ensemble. The A Level dancers also made their own special contribution by delivering a deeply impressive spread of individual solos and duos recently performed for their A Level Performance exam.

All in all, it was, as the brief selection of photographs below clearly indicate*, a wonderful evening's entertainment.

* the stage lighting for the Showcase (including strobe lighting, low lighting and feature spotlights) meant that it was not possible to photograph every dance in the packed programme.
