Hurst pupils abseil from Chapel tower to raise money to help Haiti earthquake victims

Pupils from Hurstpierpoint College have always responded speedily and generously to charitable causes.

 

Grace is the first one to go down“Having only just raised some £5000 for Help for Heroes” said Hurst Headmaster, Tim Manly “ our great pupils quickly seized the initiative and set up an emergency appeal for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti.

A number of activities have taken place and more are planned. The opportunity to abseil down the Chapel Tower – something that hasn’t been done for at least 10 years – created particular excitement.

Heather Beeby, Head of Hurst Prep, also made the descentPupils (and some members of staff including Head of Hurst Prep, Heather Beeby - left - watched by many children from the Prep School) bid for the opportunity and as a result over £1,000 was raised by this one event.”
