At 13, students join the Shell year in which they take a standard course with a range of academic subjects.
These are: English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, History, French, Physical Education, Information Technology, Art, Ethical and Religious Studies, Music, Drama, Design Technology and Personal, Social and Health Education. All students also take German or Spanish and some study Latin.
