At 13, students join the Shell year to study a core academic curriculum (comprising English, Mathematics and Science) and a core creative curriculum of Dance, Drama and PE. To complete their timetable pupils choose 5 option subjects from the following list: Computer Science, French, Geography, German, History, Latin, RS and Spanish and 2 creative options from Art, Design Technology and Music. Learning Support and English as a Second Language may be selected instead of an optional subject. Personal, Social and Health Education is covered as part of a Personal Enrichment Programme.
Advice on options and suitable subjects for study at GCSE is given during the Shell year.
