Year 5 visit Woods MillFirst we went on a Blindfold Walk, to find out what it would be like to be a nocturnal animal like a badger or a hedgehog. We had to use our sense of touch to find our way around a course.
Next we used nets to go pond-dipping. I caught a newt, a tadpole, some damsel fly nymphs, a fresh water mussel, a shrimp and a pond skater! After that, we learned about camouflage.
We also went on a canopy Walk. We held a mirror under our noses so that we could look up at the tree canopy and imagine what it would be like to live in the trees!

Finally, we matched certain colours with parts of animals. This showed us how animals use camouflage to stay hidden!
