Year 4 visit Newhaven Fort

When I went to Newhaven Fort on Tuesday 12th October, I learned what it felt like when there was an air raid. It was very frightening because the bombs shook the bomb shelter and when you came out, you might find that your house had been bombed!

I also learned that you only got a little bit of food because there wasn’t enough for a really big meal. For dinner you might only have got a little bit of porridge! I particularly enjoyed going up the hills surrounding the fort and looking around. There were some really massive guns up there and little passage ways that we could go through.

We watched a boat going out to sea from up there and it had a French flag on it, so we waved and said ‘Au revoir’ and the people on the boat waved back!
