A Tudor workman called Charlie arrived one day in September to help the Year 3 children to build their very own timber-framed Tudor house one third the size of a real one!
During the course of the day, the children learned all about the differences between the peasants’ cruck houses and the more imposing homes of the richer Tudors. They learned how to thatch and tile a roof and how to whittle wooden pegs to secure a structure. Everyone had a go at making wattle and daub and putting together a cruck frame.

By the end of the day, a magnificent house stood in the hall and everyone managed to fit inside!
