Year 7 and 8 pupils study the core subjects of English, Maths and Science and the foundation subjects of History, Geography, French, RS and Latin. In addition all pupils are taught Art, Design Technology, Games, ICT, music, PE and PSHCE.
Year 7 and 8 pupils are set according to ability in Maths, English, Science, Latin, French, Geography and History and in this way we deliver a more individually tailored programme of study. Some selected pupils will not study Latin and they will have extra English or Maths lessons in the time allocated to Latin.
Although children are no longer prepared for Common Entrance or Common Academic Scholarship we will continue to prepare children for the school of their
first choice should it not be Hurstpierpoint College.
If it is felt that moving to Hurst's Senior School may not be the most appropriate next step for a pupil, we do of course offer support and guidance to assist parents in their decision making.
