Dear Parent,

As the first half of term draws to a close, we can look back on an excellent few weeks. Indeed, I cannot recall a better start to the year in my time here (famous last words ...). There has been real activity, focus and commitment in all areas and I am very proud of what the pupils and staff have achieved so far. We were visited by an old Hurst pupil a couple of weeks ago and he wrote the following to me: "I was certainly struck by the all pervading activity and friendliness of everyone at all levels. We all say the old days were the best in everything but this is certainly not true at Hurst... Over the 60 or so years that I have known Hurst, there has been a magnificent grafting of new ideas onto the old traditions, and all the better for it."

Quite so.

To those who are wondering why I have chosen email for this Newsletter, it is partially because of the current ongoing problems with the post, but also to see whether this is a good medium for this sort of communication. Do let me have your views.

Yours sincerely,
Headmaster
Tim Manly.
