The Business department at Hurst is an engaging environment where students can engage with the latest developments in the world of commerce. Real world Business features heavily in the news, and opportunities for learning how these reports of trading activity, the changing performance of firms and issues regarding products can affect us are frequent and diverse. Any future career will demand an understanding of how organisations operate and succeed, making study of this area universally useful.
Students come with a variety of interests, including wanting to start their own business, gaining an understanding of how firms compete for customers and having strong knowledge of business operations to climb the ladder in an established firm.
The Business department at Hurst offers A-level Business once students are in the Sixth Form. Areas of study for the A-level include managing people, marketing, finance, operations, the external environment and strategy.
Business is taught in the new South West extension to the Academic Quad. These classrooms are specifically designed for small Sixth Form classes and are all equipped with interactive whiteboards.
There are two academic clinics every week, for students to refresh their knowledge and ask extending questions that go beyond the scope of their current course. Hurst also has a very successful Young Enterprise scheme.
